Skills for Care webinar: Making the most of funding for training in 2025–26


Skills for Care is hosting a free webinar between 10:00am – 11:30am on Wednesday 14th May 2025, to help adult social care providers understand what funding is available for workforce training and how to access it. The webinar will provide a detailed walkthrough of the practical aspects of accessing LDSS funding, including:

  • The eligibility criteria and evidence requirements for making claims through the scheme
  • How the funding can be used, including eligible training courses and qualifications
  • The process for accessing the fund and submitting claims
  • A demonstration of the online claims service.

It’s a useful overview for managers, training leads, and anyone involved in workforce planning or development who wants to shape their learning and development offers for the year and maximise their available budgets.

Moving and handling

Medicines Optimisation for Care Homes (MOCH) training

These monthly training sessions focus on the Self-Care and Homely Remedies Toolkit, supporting care home staff in managing and administering medication. The sessions cover:

  • Self-Care medications
  • Homely Remedy medications
  • Personal Care medications/items

Participants will receive adaptable resources that can be tailored to their care home’s needs and have the opportunity to ask questions about the toolkit.

Everyday English & Cultural Awareness for Overseas Carers – Level 1

This interactive 6-week course has been thoughtfully designed to address critical language and cultural challenges faced by overseas carers in social care settings. Originally developed to assist care providers with CQC compliance, the program has evolved to meet the needs of modern care teams and is now delivered online for maximum accessibility.

Through live webinars, participants will engage in dynamic, interactive sessions featuring clear presentations, comprehension exercises, real-life scenarios, and reflective discussions.

Date options:

Course 1: 10:00am to 11:30am each Wednesday for 6 weeks, from 5th February to 12th March 2025

Course 2: 10:00am to 11:30am each Thursday for 6 weeks, from 6th February to 13th March 2025

Course 3: 12:00pm to 1:30pm each Thursday for 6 weeks, from 6th February to 13th March 2025

Course 4: 2:00pm to 3:30pm each Thursday for 6 weeks, from 6th February to 13th March 2025

Wellbeing Programme for International Care Workers

Tresacare and SESCA are collaborating to offer a free wellbeing programme designed to support international care workers in the South East. The programme will run for 3 months from mid-January 2025 and will be held online via Zoom.

What does the programme include?

  • 6 professional workshops (90 minutes each)
  • Weekly Wellbeing Gyms with Pastoral Care Circles
  • Regular wellness activities and support sessions

Who is this programme open to?

  • CQC-registered adult social care providers in the South-East who are SESCA members
  • International care workers who are registered with SESCA
  • Displaced care workers who are in contact with SESCA
