Registered managers are valuable leaders in health and care. But strong leadership doesn’t just happen. Managers develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to be a leader in health and care through their experiences and the ability to reflect and adapt as they grow in the role. To support this process they need the right support and access to meaningful continuing professional development opportunities.
The MILE Leadership Development Pathway identifies the most current and relevant learning opportunities for registered managers in Sussex who are looking to develop their leadership skills both to lead their teams and contribute across the ICS. Currently there is no formal framework or accreditation for leadership development in social care, but we are optimistic that this may be something offered in the future by the proposed Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF).
The Leadership Development Pathway is a repository of learning opportunities for registered managers working in social care. A registered manager can use the pathway to assess their own leadership capabilities while identifying their areas for development and growth. The Leadership Pathway is aligned to the content of both the Leadership Framework developed by the NHS and the subsequent development of the Leadership Qualities Framework from Skills for Care.
