Registered Managers webinar: Supervising and supporting nursing students on placement

This session, hosted by Skills for Care on 29th January between 10:00am – 11:00am, introduces a new, free online resource designed to support registered managers in their potential role as Practice Supervisor for nursing students and nursing associates on placement in social care settings.

Funded by DHSC and developed in partnership with the University of Exeter, the resource aligns with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment and supports the national strategy to enable more social care placements for student nurses.

Who should attend:

  • Registered managers (NMC registered or not) interested in supervising nursing students
  • Those involved in nursing education or placement development
  • Employers and stakeholders looking to expand nursing placements in social care

Skills for Care webinar – Dementia care: Enabling people to live well

Taking place on Thursday 5th February 2026, 10:00am – 11:00am, this webinar aims to support registered managers to implement effective dementia training that improves care quality and engagement for people living with dementia. Meals That Matter: Exploring Food and Care Together

This free webinar, hosted by the Centre for Adult Social Care Research on Tuesday 25th November 2025 from 12:00pm – 13:30pm, explores new UK research on the role of food, eating practices, and wellbeing in adult social care. Speakers will discuss how shared meals and everyday food rituals can strengthen connection, reduce isolation, and enhance wellbeing for adults with care and support needs, including disabled people and older adults.

Managing meds with confidence: Practical steps for safer care

This webinar, hosted by Skills for Care in partnership with the Outstanding Society, offers practical guidance to help care providers strengthen their approach to medicines optimisation and embed good practice into everyday routines.

Attendees will hear from homecare and residential providers, as well as sector specialists, who will share examples of outstanding practice and tools to build staff confidence and competence. The session also explores how to meaningfully involve people in decisions about their medicines to support person-centred care.

How can older people thrive in care homes?

Join My Home Life England, the National Care Forum and Surrey County Council on 20th October for a discussion on the transformative impact of the Thriving in Residential Care research, one of the largest qualitative studies exploring the experiences of older people living in care homes.

The free session will explore how the research can support care teams, improve service quality, and influence CQC ratings. Sarah Rajendram, Commissioning Manager at Surrey County Council, will also share how Surrey is using the findings to shape future care home provision.
