The government is launching the new Adult Social Care Training and Development Fund. This guidance details the government’s offer, ahead of the launch of the digital online claims service, with the aim of enabling the adult social care workforce and ASC employers to be able to start to plan their training and development for the financial year 2024 to 2025.

Whether you are an experienced manager who wants to refresh or brush up your skills, a soon to be manager who wants to be prepared for the tasks ahead, or simply an existing manager who has never been shown how to do appraisals, this module has been specifically designed to cater for your needs and equip you with the skills to be able to carry out effective appraisals with your staff.

This free elearning course is for all staff working in adult social care services in England. Care providers can use this course to improve and assess their staff’s knowledge of data protection and cyber security – including their individual responsibility to keep information safe. The course meets the training requirements within the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT).

This is the only free elearning resource on this topic specifically designed for social care staff. The scenarios reflect situations that staff face within adult social care settings – including care homes, supported living, home care and community services. It covers all client groups, and all staff with access to personal data. It supports staff’s continuing professional development (CPD).

This toolkit will support you to offer a robust induction to fully support new starters and ensure you create the right first impression. The checklists at each stage provide lists of activities to consider with signposts to resources and templates which you can tailor. It draws heavily on what providers across health and social care tell us works for them.

This half-day course is designed to help support new care workers commencing their induction and working towards the Care Certificate. The course is funded for adult social care staff working for Brighton and Hove City Council, and staff working in adult social care provider services that contract with Brighton and Hove City Council.

Learning outcomes
By the end of this course you will be able to:

• Explain what the Care Certificate is
• Explain how your previous experiences, attitudes and beliefs may affect the way you work
• Define duty of care as it relates to your role, responsibilities and partnership when maintaining practice standards, code of conduct and agreed ways of working
• List and describe how to put person centred values into practice and promote them in your day to day work
• Recognise the importance of communication and confidentiality
• Complete a personal development plan.

Nursing in a social care setting is recognised as increasingly challenging in today’s world. Resilience-based Clinical Supervision (RBCS) is a way of supporting you and your team by recognising your own and others’ emotions and how you can positively respond to them. RBCS is a tried and trusted model experienced by hundreds of nurses across the country and beyond. The model’s rationale is to increase an individual’s ability to respond positively to the emotional and physiological demands of their role.

This guide has been updated in line with the Workforce Strategy for Adult Social Care. It covers statutory and mandatory knowledge and skills in a variety of topic areas based on a review of legislation, guidelines, statutory guidance, standards and recommendations.

Ensuring your workforce are properly supported through a thorough induction reduces the risk of employees feeling out of their depth, in turn reducing their stress and increasing their enjoyment of their job.

A supportive induction helps new team members fit comfortably and safely into your organisation.

Shadowing, mentoring, buddying, peer support, values-based learning and additional training around core skills and specific health conditions can all be included in the induction.

This 1 day in-person course is for individuals employed in management or team leader posts that train staff on a regular basis. The course is ideal for those who are new to training, or those currently delivering training who have not had formal instruction. Delegates will explore the purpose of training and coaching and mentoring and the tools and techniques for creating a successful learning experience for others.
