Commit to reducing falls in your service with this ‘Action Falls Train the Trainer’ course

The ‘Action Falls Train the Trainer’ online course is aimed towards health and social care professionals who wish to train, mentor and enable care home staff in implementing the Action Falls programme. The course will take approximately 5 weeks based on 1 hour per week of study, and involves both self-directed learning and scheduled webinars featuring subject matter experts (dates TBC).

Course highlights:

  • Learn to apply the Action Falls assessment, which has been recognised by NHS England as best practice
  • Receive the Action Fall materials, that you can use in your practice
  • Engage in meaningful discussions with peers during and on completion of the course
  • Stay updated on the latest falls-in-care-homes research and an opportunity to get involved in the research.

CIRCLE Resource Launch Event: 11th September 2024, 14:00pm – 15:00pm

This online event will introduce a new research project called Creating Inclusive Residential Care of LGBTQ+ Elders (CIRCLE) that explores potential ways residential care providers could be supported to make their care services more LGBTQ+ inclusive. The event will share details of a new resource that has been created for residential care homes to help services implement the key principles of LGBTQ+ inclusive practice.

Applications open for the ‘Digital leadership programme’!

Applications are open for the next ‘Digital leadership programme’ with Skills for care & the National Care Forum. The course consists of four workshops on Thursdays 19th September, 26th September, 3rd October & 10th October 2024.

Course description:
‘This learning programme will support both new and experienced managers to have the underpinning skills, knowledge and models of digital leadership that can be practically applied when implementing technology in a care service and promote best practice. It will improve confidence in identifying how digital technology supports the delivery of quality care and will enable managers to identify technology in the market, understand the barriers to technology adoption and how an organisation may choose to address them.’

A Workforce Strategy for Adult Social Care in England

Skills for Care recently released the new ‘Workforce Strategy for Adult Social Care in England’, a collaborative strategy developed to create a roadmap for the future of the social care workforce over the next 15 years. The strategy makes recommendations based on input from ‘thousands of stakeholders’, current legislation, and new workforce data with the aim ‘to attract, retain, train and transform the workforce.’
