Safe information sharing is central to good practice in adult social care, which makes regular staff training and continuous learning essential. With the deadline for completing the 2024–2025 DSPT having just passed, and recent updates to UK legislation, this week’s newsletter focuses on strengthening your approach to information governance. It brings together key resources to help you meet your legal obligations, improve digital resilience, and protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the data you handle every day.
CTRL + Care is a brand-new podcast from Digital Care Hub, launched on Friday 18th July. Hosted by Michelle Corrigan (Programme Director, Better Security, Better Care) and Katie Thorn (Project Lead, Digital Care Hub), each 20–30 minute episode explores the latest updates in adult social care, digital transformation, and cyber security.
The first episode features highlights from a recent speech by Michelle Dyson, Director General at the Department of Health and Social Care, covering key issues including digital inclusion, AI in social care, and data security.
The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 became law in June and brings in important updates to the way personal information is handled across the UK. The aim is to make it easier and safer to access, share, and protect data across both public and private services. This has particular relevance for adult social care, especially around improving data sharing between organisations and setting clear expectations for how information should be managed.

Skills for Care is inviting adult social care employers to take part in a new support programme to help shape and test the Care Workforce Pathway.
The pathway is a national framework that outlines clear career routes in adult social care. It sets out the knowledge, skills, values and behaviours needed to deliver high-quality, personalised care and support.
90 employers will be selected to join as early adopters, with support to explore how the pathway can be used in practice and to provide feedback on what works well and what could be improved. There are three cohorts available, starting in July, September or October 2025.
What’s involved? Participants will join a series of interactive workshops over a three-month period, covering:
An introduction to the Care Workforce Pathway
Identifying workforce challenges and and Pathway governance
Delivering and learning from the programme
Rolling out the Pathway in your organisation
Monitoring and embedding the Pathway
The sessions are practical and collaborative, offering the opportunity to trial the pathway in a real-world setting while helping to shape its future.
