Wellbeing Programme for International Care Workers

Tresacare and SESCA are collaborating to offer a free wellbeing programme designed to support international care workers in the South East. The programme will run for 3 months from mid-January 2025 and will be held online via Zoom.

What does the programme include?

  • 6 professional workshops (90 minutes each)
  • Weekly Wellbeing Gyms with Pastoral Care Circles
  • Regular wellness activities and support sessions

Who is this programme open to?

  • CQC-registered adult social care providers in the South-East who are SESCA members
  • International care workers who are registered with SESCA
  • Displaced care workers who are in contact with SESCA

‘Adult Social Care Learning and Development Support Scheme’ guidance

On 6th September the Department of Health and Social Care shared updated information for adult social care employers on learning and development support for the financial year 2024 to 2025

The guidance covers:

  • The eligibility criteria for being able to make claims through the scheme
  • How the funding can be used, including the training courses and qualifications within scope of the scheme
  • When the funding will be available
  • The reimbursement rates
  • The transition arrangements from the Workforce Development Fund
  • Details on how adult social care employers can access the online claims service and make a claim.

Mary Seacole Sussex Leadership Programme applications open

Date: Monday 24th June 2024 (welcome meeting) – Monday 13th January 2025
Course length: Six-month-long programme – Includes approx. 8-10 hours of self-study each week
Delivery mode: Online
Cost: £150 per participant which must be funded by the participants department/organisation.
Suitable for: First time managers in health or social care who lead a team and are keen to develop their leadership behaviours and skills and connect with colleagues across the Sussex wide system.
Qualification: NHS Leadership Academy Award in Health and Care Leadership.

Course description:
‘The programme will prepare you for the demands of leadership in the healthcare system today – and into the future. It will give you the theoretical knowledge and practical understanding needed to deliver inspiring leadership. During the programme, you’ll cover eight units of study on leadership fundamentals along with four further units that relate to core management skills.’

Course commitments:

  • Contribute to the online discussion forums
  • Complete the online activities
  • Attend all three face-to-face workshop days
  • Complete and pass the 2,000 word final assignment

  • Workshop 1: Tuesday 16th July, 09:30am – 16:30pm
  • Workshop 2: Tuesday 10th September, 09:30am – 16:30pm
  • Workshop 3: Thursday 14th November, 09:30am – 16:30pm
  • Assignment Deadline: Monday 13th January 2025, 17:00pm
