Opportunities now exist in social care to develop more in depth health and clinical skills in roles such as a assistant practitioners. They work as part of the range of healthcare and social care teams and have direct contact with patients, service users or clients providing high quality and compassionate care. The role requires workers to have a more in-depth understanding about factors that influence health and ill-health (e.g. anatomy and physiology). The assistant practitioner may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers or activities delegated by registered healthcare practitioners.

Access to Higher Education Diploma Health

During your studies on this Access to Higher Education Diploma Health course, you’ll study a range of healthcare-related subjects that will ease you into your degree.

In the first year of this course, you’ll cover the basics of how to write a report and reference your work, as well as exploring the subject of human biology and various factors that affect human health.

In your second year on the course, you will learn more about psychology, the fundamental principles of values-based healthcare, and how you can promote the health of your patients.

This course is designed to provide in-depth, relevant learning materials with the end goal of studying a healthcare degree in mind. After completing this Access to Higher Education Health course, you’ll feel fully prepared to study your chosen healthcare degree at university.

BSc (Hons) Integrated Health, Social Care And Wellbeing Top Up (UEA)

This one-year BSc (Hons) Integrated Health, Social Care and Wellbeing (Top-Up) is designed for anyone who has previously studied a relevant / related subject, up to Level 5. The course is designed to expands upon your current knowledge and understanding of the health, social care, and wellbeing sector, by now considering the industry from a different perspective. The modules are designed for you to reflect on your own leadership styles and qualities and review your current practice. Explore international healthcare and consider how we could implement positive changes in your own area of practice. This final year will prepare you to adapt to the ongoing changes happening in this dynamic sector.

Care Home Assistant Practitioner Training (CHAPs)

Provider: Care Business Associate Training

Our seven-week Care Home Assistant Practitioner course will give individuals the knowledge, skills, and confidence to carry out a variety of clinical and management tasks in a care home setting.

This consists of six virtual sessions and one Face to Face practical day at our head office: Care Business Associate Training, Rufford House, 52 Bath Street, Southport, PR9 0DH.

If you can not attend the practical day at this venue, you can have a trainer attend your chosen venue for an additional cost.

The main areas of learning that the course covers are:

  • Clinical observations
  • Tissue viability, dressings, wounds, and pressure relief
  • Venepuncture and blood sugar monitoring
  • Administration of medication and syringe driver
  • Catheter and stoma care
  • Dysphagia
  • Diabetes management

End of Life and verification of death tra

Provider: Care Business Associate Training

The objective of this course is to equip healthcare professionals with all the information and skills they require to provide expert, compassionate care to patients who are in the final stages of their life.

Some key areas that this course covers includes:

  • End of life healthcare standards, legislation, and guidelines.
  • Person-centred end of life care plans.
  • How to recognise when someone is entering the last stages of their life.
  • Symptoms and pain relief during the last stages of life.
  • After death care and support available for family members.
  • Verification and certification of death.
  • Providing sensitive and compassionate care to patients and their families.

Once you have completed this short training course you will receive a certificate that formally recognises your competence in providing specialist end of life care and death verification to nationally recognised standards.
